What to bring

What to bring for Massage 101 & 102: Oil & Table Workshops

  • Bring 2 sheets, 2 pillow covers, 2 mid-sized towels. If you have a tendency to get cold, even in a hot room, bring an extra sheet for covering. The room will be kept at around 78 degrees.
  • Please bring clothes that you can move in easily, remove and put-on quickly, and which can get residual oil on them.
  • Bring warm socks if your feet tend to get cold, especially when if they get cold when exposed.
  • Bring a notebook or journal for note keeping. These notes will prove valuable over time as you may refer to them in the coming months.
  • Please consider bringing deodorant and toothbrush/toothpaste for an afternoon "fresh-up."
  • Bring a lunch or enough money for a local lunch. There will be a 45-75 minute lunch break.
  • ANY ALLERGIES?  If you know you are allergic to anything that might be in the room or used in massage (coconut, peanut, poly-parabin, etc.) please let us know a couple of days before class begins.

What to bring for Pain Remedy 101 Deep Relief Massage Techniques: Fully Clothed Workshops

Here are some important items:

  • Bring loose fitting clothing that you can stretch & be stretched in. Surgical/hospital scrubs are ideal: thin cotton fabric that you won't get too hot in.
  • Bring calve socks that won't slip when working on others. Ankle socks and ankle-less socks will slip too easily.
  • Bring 1 large sheet for a barrier between you and the carpet, or bring a fabric yoga mat or thai mat instead. Avoid synthetics, plastics, rubber, etc.
  • Bring 1 or 2 large towels for bolstering. Additionally, a firm long pillow is great too, just not too thick. Flat pillows that are wide enough for you to sit on are ideal.
  • Please consider bringing deodorant and toothbrush/toothpaste for an afternoon "fresh-up."
  • Bring a lunch or enough money for a local lunch. There will be a 45-75 minute lunch break.
  • Bring a notebook or journal for note keeping. These notes will prove valuable over time as you may refer to them in the coming months.
  • If you know you are allergic to anything that might be in the room or used in massage (coconut, peanut, poly-parabin, detergents, etc.) PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN THE CLASS STARTS.

Information essential to all workshops

What we provide

We provide the massage tables (as an alternate for those with back issues, or CMT's wanting to use advanced techniques), and the workshop space with a bathroom. We provide water and some very light munchies.

Preparation:  All Workshops

  • Please be gentle with yourself the night before the workshop. Avoid alcohol and recreational drug use, and get plenty of sleep the night before the workshop. A clear head and energetic mind is a good thing for class.
  • The higher the energy in the group, the greater amount of material we can cover.
  • Consider a larger breakfast, and a smaller lunch to reduce the "afternoon sleepiness" of our natural body bio-rhythms.
  • Avoid a heavy work-out at the gym the day before the workshop. Fatigued muscles will get in the way of learning massage.
  • Ongoing Practice : All Workshops

  • We are encouraging participants to practice their skills after the workshop. To ensure the maximum skill retention, we encourage you to set-up a massage session within 7-days of the workshop, and again within 30-days, then 60-days, and then 90-days.
  • You can set-up these sessions with other participants of the workshop (highly encouraged) in a massage exchange, or with friends. Take your calendar with you to the workshop in case you want to set-up 7-day follow-up massage with other participants.

Carpooling : All workshops

If you are interested in carpooling, please reply to this email with your offer (either giving or receiving, number of seats), your telephone number, and best location to pick-up/or be picked-up.

Your information will be re-broadcast to the workshop group (your email & telephone information will be part of the broadcast) . These will be forwarded to you in separate emails -- if you request them / or need carpooling.

Prior Participants Advise:  "Don't Over Do It!"

Prior participants of these workshops have repeatedly advised: "Do yourself a favor and don't plan anything else for Friday or Saturday night of the workshop!" -- This workshop is a FULL day.

Almost everyone that attends and then tried to meet a friend for dinner afterwards, or go to a movie, or go out clubbing, found that he just didn't have the energy.

Especially avoid doing anything strenuous the day before, e.g., "body-building", marathons, 100K bike race, iron man, etc. -- your muscles will be in "recovery" and too sore for the workshop.

At Your Place

In-Room Service

We'll send our practitioners to your hotel, bed & breakfast, or vacation rental home.

Let us know if you have a gender preference for the practitioner, how many massages you'd like at your location, and the length of each session.

We can send two or more practitioners as well!
