The historic Sonoma Orchid Inn, a fully restored and elegantly furnished 1906 farmhouse has 10 guest rooms. Dana Murphy and Brian Siewert became resident owner-innkeepers of the Sonoma Orchid Inn in 2006. They are two delightful guys and a pleasure to work with. The spacious rooms hold from one to two massage tables at a time — making it perfect for side-by-side in-room massage for couples.

A Food Lovers Wet Dream

Okay, enough of the travel log. Here is the scoop. Dana is a spectacular chef. Actually, amazing food. The west Sonoma County area has some of the world's best foods and wine, and the Sonoma Orchid Inn dishes some of it up for you. Foodies and wine connoisseurs will find themselves home here.

Let Dana know that you truly appreciate food and within minutes you'll be treated to a Sonoma county feast. And his breakfast meal exceeds what you can find anywhere within 50 miles. Fresh eggs from their chickens are bright orange with a taste that would make a devout republican start to have feelings. Herbs grown on this ancient river property, fertilized with their own chicken poop, guarantees you are getting food freshly seasoned.

Ask, and they will send you on a day's tour of some of the Russian River's hidden, and sometimes secret, getaways.

Why call it Orchid?

Any lover of rare and specialized orchids will enjoy a special treat.  The Sonoma Orchid Inn is home to many of these monocots.  When it comes to the more than 15,000-35,000 species of orchids around the world, you'll be impressed with the specific selection on-hand for your viewing pleasure.

And the local community is encouraged to bring your sick or root bound orchid.  Learn about potting medium, pot selection, and the light and water requirements for your specific type of orchid. Most orchids repot into their same pots. But, if you are thinking of using a new pot, bring it and learn about the advantages and disadvantages of the new pot.
